A volcanic plateau covered with glacial alluvium located under peat bogs. Has several localities with cassiterite "wood tin" placers, but the high silica content of the wood tin made the deposits not much use for tin smelters. There has been a very minor production of more colorful pieces for lapidary work.
Not to be confused with the sulphosalt and sulphide bearing Condor Iquiña stock in Poopó, nor the Estancia Condor Iquiña in La Paz.
