Sam Stewart was an old North Queensland prospector, with some musical talent, who secured a 24 acre lease, about 200 metres north-east of the Lady Evelyn Mine, and Broad Arrow-Ora Banda Road, 3 kilometres east of Ora Banda. This occurred in 1910.
He was backed by a Kalgoorlie syndicate called the Stewart Gold Mines Ltd. Much development work was undertaken across 1911, and stone assayed towards the end of the year. There was some criticism in the press the mine was worthless, borne out when the lease was abandoned shortly after.
