Summary of Sabina:
Gold first discovered in 1860 from the beach sand. Later quartz veins produced up to 200 g/t. In 1863 this district was the leading producer in Nova Scotia. Mining continued until 1907 with some prospecting after that time. Total production was 1,329,000 g of gold from 75 565 t of ore.
A very detailed history and account of the district is given by Malcolm.
GPS coordinates are for the general area. Workings and dumps are scattered in the region. See the Smith and Goodwin map for details.
