A former surface and underground Hg-Cu mine located on 19 claims (1927), in sec. 12, T7N, R9E, on Slate Creek near Malone Mountain in the Mazatzal Mountains, E of the Ord Mine, about 1 mile WNW of Baker Mountain near highway 87, on National Forest land. Discovered by W.A. Malones, Tom Malones, and Otto Malones in 1922. Owned by the Arizona Cinnabar Co. of Globe, AZ.
Mineralization is ore in stringers, hosted in schist. The ore zone strikes E-W and dips vertically. An associated rock unit is the Red Rock Porphyry. A second lode occurs on the Red Bird No. 7 claim.
Local structures include NE-trending schistosity, and NE-trending Red Rock Rhyolite dikes.
Workings are 60.96 meters in length and include an open cut 8 feet wide, and a 200 foot long tunnel. Equipment included an inoperative 8 ton rotary furnace.
Assay data: Assay across 2 feet of schist showed 0.14% Hg. A second assay showed 0.23% Hg.
