About Hydrotalcite SupergroupHide

A supergroup of minerals with natural layered double hydroxides (LDC). They are characterized with structurally layer-lattices based on a stacking of positively charged hydroxide layers along [0001], as in brucite, with interlayer anions and variable amounts of water molecules.

The nomenclature was recently revised by Mills et al. (2012).

In inorganic chemistry, this family of compounds is called "layered double hydroxides" (LDH) or "HTlc" (hydrotalcite-like compounds) or "anionic clays" (the interlayer anions can be exchanged for other anions).
