About Hydrotalcite SupergroupHide

A supergroup of minerals with natural layered double hydroxides (LDH). They are characterized structurally by layer-lattices based on a stacking of positively charged metal hydroxide layers along [0001], as in brucite, with interlayer anions (mostly carbonate and/or sulphate, which can be interchangeable) and water molecules.

The nomenclature was revised by Mills et al. (2012).

In inorganic chemistry, this family of compounds is called "layered double hydroxides" (LDH), "HTlc" (hydrotalcite-like compounds) or "anionic clays".
