A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼NW¼ (estimated) sec. 31, T19N, R10E, MDM, 2.6 km (1.6 miles) NW of Mack House, along the S canyon wall of Oregon Creek (N slope of Pliocene Ridge), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes N65W and dips vertically at a thickness of 0.61 meter. The vein is 2 to 24 inches (5 to 60 cm) thick and strikes N60-70W. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 250 to 300 foot adit on the vein.
