A former Fe-Mn-silica occurrence/mine located in secs. 6 & 7, T2N, R26E, SBM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) W of Monument Peak (coordinates of record), along the W canyon wall of Bowmans Wash (7.9 miles from Cross Roads; 15.7 miles from Parker, Arizona), on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Discovered in 1916. First produced in 1917. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Adjoins the Monument King property on the SE.

Mineralization is hosted in limestone. The ore body strikes N35-40W and dips 65W and/or 40-80SW at a thickness of 0.91 and/or 3 meters and a depth-to-top of 5 meters, width of 10 meters and a length of 90 meters. Ore body No. 1 is lenticular in a fissure vein. No. 2 is irregular min a shear zone and No. 3 is breccia fill. The primary mode of origin was oxidation and the secondary mode was hydrothermal activity. Primary ore control was bedding and the secondary was fracturing. Wallrock alteration is slight (bleaching). Lenticular bodies of Mn oxide and hematite are associated with jasper in limestone, that is enclosed in brown sandstone and volcanic breccia. The ore is 2½ to 3 feet thick, strikes N35-40W and dips 40-80SW and consists of hard psilomelane with some calcite and coatings of hematite. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.

Workings extend over an area measuring approximately 600 meters by 46 meters (1-24-1976). Deposit may be hydrothermal in origin but appears that the associated hematite is more abundant than Mn. Also MINO..... (???).

Workings include surface and underground openings.

Analytical data result: Ore grade is 35% Mn.
