Pegmatite mine. Located approximately 3 kilometres north-east of Coggan Bore. Head east a short distance down the fence line from Coggan Bore, and at the end of this on a track north-east. It would appear this small abandoned mica mine has a limited footprint. PNC Exploration in 1994 could not locate the mine, and they comment the mine could be mis-placed on maps. According to production records it was only operational for two years; 1947 1743 lbs, and 1948 1215 lbs of mica.
The mine was owned and operated by Joe Dalmaso. The mine is on the south slope of a steep ridge, once consisting of two shafts down to 50 feet deep, three short tunnels, and a few small open cuts. The northern hanging wall of the pegmatite is covered by thin mica sheets. The pegmatite dips steeply north.
Noted for small concentrations of disseminated coarsely crystalline monazite, and the ill-defined mineral stated as betafite at the location. Monazite is pale yellow to dark red-brown, while the betafite is greenish black or dark brown, altering to yellow when exposed to weathering.
