A group of Cu-Au-Ag-Mn claims and former surface and underground mine located on 56 unpatented claims in the SW¼ sec. 29, TS, R16E (and adjacent portions of secs. 30, 31 & 32)(Mammoth 7.5 minute topo map), about 1¼ miles due S of Signal Peak, about 1 mile N of Tucson Wash and about 6¼ miles WSW of Mammoth, on state land. Discovered in 1959 by Mr. Harvey Hatcher. Produced in 1960. Owned and operated by Harvey Hatcher and Ardith Long (1960-1961).
Mineralization is a vein deposit in quartz monzonite with a tabular ore body hosted in the Cloudburst Formation, and include scattered manganese outcrops. The vein is 0.38 meters wide. An associated rock unit is an unnamed rhyolite. Includes secondary copper minerals. Reports from ADMR mention quartz monzonite porphyry with a few feet of overburden.
Area structures include rhyolite intrusives ¼ mile SE and ¼ mile SW of the mine area. Strike of the volcanics is N to W with an E dip. The San Manuel Fault, striking NW to SE, is ½ mile north of the mine.
Workings include surface exploration by means of open cuts, trenches, and shallow shafts.
