A 2979 m high peak.
The "Tête Noire" locality includes 2 sublocalities: the northern part is characterised by carboniferous slates, with quartz-filled clefts, in which brookite and quartz can be found.
A bit more to the south, the rock is Mont Blanc granite, with alpine cleft minerals, including several REE species. Rarely, a pegmatitic boulder can be found beside the road.
