A former small underground Ag-Cu-Pb mine located in the SW¼ sec. 24 (?), and sec. 26, T18S, R15E, 1 1/8 miles SE of Helvetia at about 4,900 feet of altitude. Owned by Lauterback & Murphy (1974). Part of the Frijole claim group (1968).

Mineralization is a 15 inch (37.5 cm) fissure vein dipping 10º to 20ºSE, about parallel with the nearly horizontal sheeting in the granite. The ore body is tabular. Malachite-azurite-cuprite are secondary vein-drusy banded quartz. The vein is parallel to sheeting in the granite. Associated rock units include Precambrian granodiorite porphyry at 1450 ± 10 MY, and granodiorite porphyry 54 ± 2 MY. Ore control was permiable fracture zones.

Local structures include thrust and normal faulting, fracture zones, homoclinal. Regional trends include tilting and broad open folds in the south and extensive faulting in the north.

The vein is composed of drusy banded quartz containing galena, chalcopyrite, and argentite (?), all more or less coated with azurite, malachite, and cuprite. There is some post-mineral gouge on either wall, and that on the hanging wall contains considerable muscovite.

Workings include 2 tunnels at 70 and 90 feet long and about 50 feet apart, in granite. The tunnels are connected by an inclined winze at the face. Drilled by Superior Oil Co. Minerals Division. The ore is reported to average 6% Pb, 8% Cu and 86 oz. Ag/T.
