This belt in South Gobi Province, Mongolia, belongs to the Gurvansaikhan arc terrane of the CAOB, developed in the Middle Paleozoic Kazakh-Mongolian magmatic arc. Tectonically, it was controlled by the Zuunbayan left-lateral strike-slip fault, with deposits beneath the Famennian-Tournaisian (D3-C1) unconformity. Magmatism includes the Late Devonian quartz monzodiorite and Carboniferous granite.
