Köppen climate type:

The Rose Pass occurrence is located near the Rose Pass summit near the head of the St. Mary River, about 45 kilometres west-northwest of Kimberley, British Columbia.
There is a brief description of the occurrence on the British Columbia “Minfile” site, current to 2018. Excerpts are quoted below:
“The area is underlain by phyllite, quartzite and grit of the Upper Proterozoic Horsethief Creek Group (Windermere Supergroup) and quartz arenite sedimentary rocks of the Middle Proterozoic Mount Nelson Formation (Purcell Supergroup).
Locally, quartz veins, up to 60 centimetres wide but averaging approximately 30 centimetres, occupying fractures in black argillite and schists of the Middle Proterozoic Mount Nelson Formation (Purcell Supergroup) host galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, pyrite and a tin-bearing mineral, probably stannite. A small dike or sill of granite porphyry intrudes the strata. The vein strikes north east and dips steeply west.”
Comments by Giles Peatfield on one of the minerals reported from the locality:
Stannite: This was tentatively identified by Rice (1941) and X-ray confirmed by Thompson (1950).
