Dodd Mine
A small, moderately successful copper mine worked from 1720-1760. Some ore may have been sent to England for processing. From the entrance on the North Bank of the Second River at the Brighton Avenue crossing, a tunnel about 800 feet long extended under a hill to the northeast. Several large chambers could still be accessed in 1872, when the entrance was sealed. By the 1930s all traces of the mine were obliterated. (Source: Woodward (1944)).
