Deposit: Garnet skarn lens in calc-silicate; lamped minor tungsten, minor diopside, quartz, hematite after pyrite, clots of calcite, all in pale grey hornfels near granite. The skarn zone is exposed along the northern margin of a granitic stock, where thin-bedded limestones and quartzites are in contact with the granite. Garnet skarn lenses have formed in larger masses of calc-silicate rock. The garnet skarn is cut perpendicular to bedding by clots of calcite. The calc-silicate rocks form a shallow pendant underlain by granite at a depth of less than 100 ft belo w outcrop.
Deposit type: W skarn
Development: Active claims in 1986, but no activity at time of examination in oct 1986. Area is within claims formerly held and explored by freeport exploration and later by phelps dodge corp, whose activity consisted of road-building, geochemical sampling and some rotary drilling.
