On the small islet an outcrop of a small body of eclogite embedded in gneiss may be studied. Further east, on seashore close to the buildings of the Runde Miljøsenter samples of eclogite may also be collected. Some material originates from a small overgrown quarry at Kjerringholmen. On the dumps and in the quarry fissure mineralization with epidote (in gneiss) is common, and microcrystals of epidot may be seen on the dumps along the seashore.
Large boulders of a rather nice eclogite are used as building material on the breakwater nearby and is easily observed along the pathway on the breakwater. (No hammering allowed).
