Originally shared with me by Michael Feehan, who knows the Oregon Coast Range better than just about anyone I've met. He found the locality looking for free gold, and shared it with me last year via a digital conversation, mentioning some unknown zeolites were present. Considering he now lives out of state, I had to investigate for both our sakes, and found a well hidden very large Quarry, with 5 major terraces/benches dug out, all around 700-900ft combined top to bottom. A combination of numerous rock types of similar chemistry are found around the quarry, with the same material being found on just about every level. The main rock type is Basalt, but there are basalt flows separated by marine sedimentary rocks, as well as lahar like tuff layers that have all experienced Zeolite facies metamorphism, as well as other types of hydrothermal alteration in addition. This is an active quarry, with equipment brought in every few months to break rocks down to make new logging roads, and for that reason, travel on the roads, as well as digging at the quarry requires good discretion and attention to safety for all. Workers have been kind enough to let me work safely away from them in the past, but I don't think anyone should push their luck...
