Disused quarry that is the type locality for "Owharoaite" or welded ignimbrite (Massive, strongly jointed devitrified ignimbrite, 15 m thick. Devitrification of the interstitial glass to amorphous clays, and of the shards to a-cristobalite-potash feldspar, is complete, resulting in the latter, in a micro-axiolitic texture which preserves the original vitroclastic structure, Rabone, 1975)
