Three kilometres beyond Boundary Road, and 100 metres south of State Highway 8, is an old dredging pond, with the partially sunken remains of the Earnscleugh No. 5 dredge. This can be viewed from the edge of the terrace, just before the vet clinic.
The Dunstan Lead Gold Dredging Company held 98 acres here, operating from 1901. It was taken over by the Earnscleugh Gold Dredging Company operating on the other side of the river, with the Earnscleugh No. 5 dredge working the lower terraces of Muttontown Gully. Operations ceased in 1924 when the company was voluntarily wound-up. Dredge tailings remain a little further up-river.
