Freeman's Find is an isolated and remote gold area, located between Mt Harold and the Stirling Peaks, in the far north-west of the Leonora Shire.

(Distances here are approximate). To reach go north along the Goldfields Highway 80 kilometres, then take the road to the Darlot Gold Mine for a further 50 kilometres. Head north from here along Wonganoo Road for a further 80 kilometres. The site is about 40 kilometres south of the Wonganoo homestead.

A track heads south-east along an ephemeral creek past several exploration points, and at the time of writing there appears to be a small exploration camp, although no information could be found. Further south roughly 5 kilometres is a group of shafts, one a north-south line, and a group 50 metres south-east, with no clear access tracks to it.

The deposit was discovered by Freeman and Neville in 1935. They pegged 12 leases and sank 3 shafts on a quartz reef 3 feet wide, dipping slightly east. Soon after, the Darlot Gold Development NL, sponsored by Australian Gold Development, was formed with 2000 pounds capital to take an option over the leases, but no more was found.

More activity occurred in the late 1940's. In 1947, a lease owned by A. Bettineschi and B. Mastaglia put through a crushing of 31 tonnes at 4 dwt yielding 61 ounces of gold. The same year A.W. Fargus, P.E. Spencer and J. Ryan put through a crushing from their lease, which they had been working for 3 months, on a rich leader 1 to 9 inches wide from 3 shafts.

In 1949, Phil Arlidge and Albert Terelinck put through 22 tonnes at 26 dwt for 28 ounces. Arlidge stated the gold was very fine. All the above crushings were put through the Darlot state battery, and the distance to the battery hampered efforts.
