The Eureka gold area is a small area of several historic shaft groupings either side of the Wongawol Road, 138 kilometres east of Wiluna, just before the turn-off to the little used Mount Fisher-Wonganoo Road.

Information was found from the early to mid 1930's, although it may have been active earlier as a prospecting field. The main complaint at the time appears to be the cost of transport of ore from the field to the Wiluna state battery. As a result only the richest ore was taken, and it is said ore 10-16 dwt was left behind. Some of this is possibly still there as the site has seen no modern mining, although it has been explored. The historic workings cover only a small footprint, so the size of the area may have made modern mining uneconomic.

In 1931, thirty men were working the field. Kilmurray and Kirwin, the Reilly Brothers, Richards and party and Davy's party are mentioned. By 1932, the Reilly brothers had erected a small battery on their lease. In 1935, Lowden and Frankston have leases on the field, and are crushing ore through the Wiluna state battery. In 1936, the Wonga Wol Mining Company is operating on the field (from which the road is named after), and also are sending ore through the Wiluna state battery, but nothing more was found after this date.
