History:
Work was begun at the Victoria Mine in 1875 to 1885. Inclined shaft sunk 410 feet; total of 1057 feet of lateral development at 50, 100, 150, 210, 237, 265 and 410 foot levels.
1878-1884: Victria Consolidated Silver Mining Company Limited. Some ore was mined and about 900 tons of hand-cobbed material was shipped.
1951: Corena Ores Limited acquired an option on the 11 patented claims and began dewatering the Victoria shaft.
1951-1957 property acquired and operated by Jardun Mines Ltd.
Geology:
The mineralization is formed over widths of 10-35 feet and occurs in two bands of greenstone schist bounded by granite; the schist and quartz veins contains disseminated sphalerite, galena, pyrite, and chalcopyrite. Four major ore zones know, all occurring in or near a fault zone striking N15W between Weaskhog Lake and the south border of the township.
