The Lengjia porphyry Mo deposit occurs in the monzogranite of the Hutoushi unit. The ore bodies are stratiform with a strike of 270° and dip near horizontally. The main ore bodies have a length of about 800 m, a width of 215 ∼ 538 m, and a thickness of 2 ∼ 40 m, with the Mo grade ranging from 0.04 % to 0.058 %. Leaf-like and disseminated molybdenite occurs in veinlets and quartz veins of monzogranite. Droplet-like chalcopyrite exsolution is visible in sphalerite crystals. Wall-rock alteration is widespread throughout the mining area and includes potassic alteration, sericitization, silicification, and carbonatization. The hydrothermal processes, based on mineral assemblages and cross-cutting relationships, can be segmented into four distinct stages. The first stage, stage I, is distinguished by the assemblage of barren quartz and K-feldspar, with a possible presence of minor pyrite. Stage II is composed of an assemblage of quartz, K-feldspar, pyrite, and a small amount of molybdenite. Stage III, which is favorable for Mo mineralization, is characterized by the assemblage of K-feldspar, quartz, and molybdenite. The final stage, stage IV, consists of quartz and possibly carbonate, with few to no sulfide.
