Synmetamorphic quartz veins in Permo-Carboniferous schists of Briançonnais Domain.

Magnesiocarpholite forms fresh fibrous aggregates (up to 30 cm in length) in quartz veins or in the embedding schists; it appears also as partly altered aggregates in small quartz veins, cracked by tectonic deformation, in association with a mineral assemblage consisting of chlorite and mica-group minerals.
The following outcrops are known: in the area to the E of Esischie Pass and along the eastern slope of the ridge Monte Pelvo-Punta Sibolet-Colle Sibolet in Grana valley (municipality of Castelmagno); to the W of Esischie Pass, above the road connecting the Maira and Grana valleys, from 2050 m in elevation to the same pass (2370 m) in Marmora valley (a lateral of Maira valley, municipality of Marmora).
