Location: The occurrence is located about 1.5 miles west of the south arm of Bay of Isles at an elevation of 1,750 feet. It is about 0.2 mile west of SR247. It is in the SE1/4 section 8, T. 3 N., R. 10 E., of the Seward Meridian. This is location 211 Tysdal (1978 [MF-880-A]) and location S-63 of Jansons and others (1984). This location is accurate to within a quarter of a mile.
Geology: The occurrence consists of lenses, as much as 2 inches thick, of massive pyrite-pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite and thin veinlets of quartz and epidote; both occur in sheared greenstone (Richter, 1965). The exposure is iron-stained. Bedrock in this area is Orca Group of early Teriary age (Nelson and others, 1985). The U.S. Bureau of Mines did not find the lenses of massive sulfide minerals described by Richter, but instead sampled an exposure of sheared greenstone. Random chip samples from the occurrence contained 44 to 110 ppm copper and 62 to 105 ppm zinc (Kurtak and Jeske, 1986).
Workings: No workings or improvements are reported.
Age: Tertiary or younger; the mineralization is in rocks of the Orca Group of Tertiary age.
Commodities (Major) - Cu
Development Status: None
Deposit Model: Besshi massive sulfide (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 24b)
