Köppen climate type:
Located 8.5 kilometres south southwest of Mount Vernon Homestead. It is on Unallocated Crown Land just outside the boundary of Mount Vernon Station.
Zinc goslarite efflorescence coats the outcropping pyritic graphitic shale, striking 4.8 kilometres in the Glen Ross Shale Member. Pyrite and secondary copper in black shale , with quartzite near the surface, and shale and siltstone below. Under this is fresh black shale containing pyrite, copper and in addition sphalerite. This is underlain by grey carbonated siltstone and shale. Discovered by Westfield in 1961-1967.
A cliff-section of the Glen Ross Shale gave 6.3 metres at 0.325% Cu and 630 ppm Ni. Surface samples gave maximum of 7.2% Zn and 0.96% Cu (MINEDEX).
The Simpson Mineral Collection of the Western Australian Museum contains specimens (MDC 1282A, 1283A, and 3518A) from this location. Minerals identified in these specimens by the Western Australian Government Chemical Laboratories include pickeringite, melanterite, quartz, copiapite, alunogen, paratacamite, variscite, and epsomite.
Details for this location are also taken from it's entry (site code S0023804) in the Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety's online database (MINEDEX) of mines, mineral deposits and prospects.
