Largest Crystal Size: 2.2 cm
Small, scalenohedral and rhombic calcite crystals on a bed of transparent muscovite mica with rutile, presenting an excellent 2.2 cm rhombic calcite. From an older collection of Rodney Leftwich, it comes with a large label measuring 5.0" x 2.75" with his handwritten description.

A lustrous, reticulated Rutile crystal of 1.4 cm, with deep red color and excellent form. From the Adams Farm in Hiddenite, North Carolina. Ex - Terry Ledford collection.
WK8-9D3Goethite α-Fe3+O(OH) , Cryptomelane K(Mn4+7Mn3+)O16 , Limonite
Belle Hawkins Mine, Mountain City Mining District, Johnson County, Tennessee, USAField of View: 1.5 cm
Largest Crystal Size: 4.0 mm
My second contribution of many for this old manganese strip mine. I have collaborated with the owner of this property and his son on gaining access and to further expand the knowledge of mineralogical occurrences. Documented as containing manganese, cryptomelane and pyrolusite: it contains much more than previously documented and I'd like to shed some light on these occurrences. Additionally, it contains crystalized quartz, chert, chalcedony, goethite, limonite and dolomite. I will be providing photo documentation of these samples and identification has been made through visual inspection, streak tests and specific gravity tests to verify these results.
Presented here is a stalactitic formation of botryoidal goethite: creating a 2.0 mm bridge between two, larger goethite bots. This small cavity lies its host of limonite and cryptomelane.

This specimen as a whole measures over 12 cm x 7.5 cm with a field of view measuring 1.3 cm x 1.8 cm. This cavity contains lustrous, botryoidal growth of Goethite on a manganese/cryptomelene host with limonite.

5VE-M82Quartz SiO2
Henry B. Hall Farm Deposit, Carroll County, Virginia, USADimensions: 10 cm x 6 cm x 4 cm
Field of View: 20 mm
My first contribution to this very interesting and historic Quartz deposit. Quartz specimens ranging in color are often found with inclusions that create blue/grey and green coloring. As of yet are unidentified but will be undergoing testing. Recently, as of 2018: gem-grade Amethyst has also been found as well as oscillator grade Quartz.
