ERG-8M6Beryl Be3Al2(Si6O18) , Beryl (Var: Aquamarine) Be3Al2Si6O18
Smedley Park beryl locality, Springfield Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USAWeight: 0.8 carats
I collected the rough for this gem in the Spring of 2020. A fine facet was then cut by Tim Condron of Inoro Gems. This is one of the finest Pennsylvania Aquamarine i have seen. It's small but nearly flawless and with nice natural color. In years of collecting at this locale, only a small handful are suitable for faceting. This is one of four stones i have had faceted from here. Hopefully i will have more to add to the list soon. Final weigh 0.8 carats.
P28-7W5Quartz SiO2 , Siderite FeCO3 , Chlorite Group
Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USAField of View: 1 inches
Quartz with a thin iridescent coating laying on a bed of Chlorite matrix. There are some very pretty and well formed Siderite discs on this specimen as well. This piece is of exceptional quality and they are quite common secondary minerals for the locale. Self collected January 2020.
63A-313Malachite Cu2(CO3)(OH)2
Southwest Chester County Mine, Schuylkill Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USALargest Crystal Size: 6 mm
I collected this sample of Malachite while exploring the grounds of the Pickering Valley Golf Course, where the remains of the old Phoenixville mines remain today. The Malachite is fibrous and rich in color.
FQ8-EPVPyromorphite Pb5(PO4)3Cl
Wheatley Mines, Schuylkill Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USALargest Crystal Size: 10 mm
I managed to procure this palm sized nugget of Pyromorphite from John Kushmerick with label in 2019. The yellow coloration is unusual for here, especially with crystals this size. A classic, old time specimen.
115-450Malachite Cu2(CO3)(OH)2 , Chrysocolla Cu2-xAlx(H2-xSi2O5)(OH)4·nH2O, x < 1
Perkiomen Mines, Audubon, Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USALargest Crystal Size: 3 mm
There are many interesting structures of Malachite at this old time locale. I have found it associated with many other minerals, in this instance with Chrysocolla. I field collected this sample while exploring the area. It is hard to find new samples anymore but multiple explorations around the old dumps have provided a handful of new specimens.
KA1-TJJIridescent coating, Quartz SiO2
Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USALargest Crystal Size: 7 mm
Thin iron coatings are common on Quartz from this area. Every so often the iron deposits result in thin, colorful deposits of iridescent Turgite like this. I have managed to procure a handful of nice colorful specimens from this area. Many comparable to the variety found at Graves Mountain in Georgia. The crystals are well defined and have a sharp appearance.

HTN-7H4Amphibole Supergroup (Var: Byssolite) AX2Z5((Si,Al,Ti)8O22)(OH,F,Cl,O)2 , Quartz SiO2
Blue Hill, Media, Upper Providence Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USALargest Crystal Size: 1.25 inches
I managed to procure a few new samples from this old time locality. The area has been developed over, but careful and persistent searching has proved fruitful.
