Kipushi is a town in Haut-Katanga province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. It lies 35 km southwest of the city of Lubumbashi, very close to the border with Zambia, at an altitude of 1329 m (ca. 4,360 ft). The main economic activity of the town is mining.

✪ Kipushite (TL) Formula: (Cu,Zn)5Zn(PO4)2(OH)6 · H2O Type Locality: Description: The first specimens were recovered in the 1970's but due to too less specimens, the specie was not reported. The same collector ( Joseph Lhoest ) from the early kipushites, briefed J. M. Pendeville about the locality where he found them. Then in 1988, he was succesfull and found the locality and cleaned the pocket out. The specimens were found just underneath shaft 1, along with reichenbachite and pseudomalachite. |

✪ Renierite (TL) Formula: (Cu1+,Zn)11Fe4(Ge4+,As5+)2S16 Type Locality: Description: Renierite was found in two germanium-rich zones at Kipushi. The first at a depth between -275 and -400 meters and a second one between the levels -725 and -775. Deeper or between these levels, the mineral was very rare and absent under -975 meters. |
