I have a general interest in Earth and planetary sciences, although more specifically with the subject of geology, and my basic personal knowledge has been amassed over several decades. It is such that I know something about some things, but I can confidently and without reservation state that I do not know everything about every thing! However, I’m always ready to learn, expand and know more.

An erstwhile member of the British Geologists’ Association, I have a definite thirst for knowledge and like to field collect not only within the United Kingdom, but also in Europe and further afield when time and money permits. I am still an enthusiastic collector of crystal, mineral & rock specimens from various sources worldwide. Occasionally I may even sell a few when my personal collection, which for the most part is manageable, becomes a bit out of hand in terms of size.

I have a rather eclectic taste, so my acquisitions include a range of different mineral specimens. English Fluorite is a particular interest for me, but also all garnet species, and I am inextricably lured to lead, tin and zinc minerals. I am fascinated by the various unusual fluorescent minerals that exist in the world and their wonderful hidden beauty. I admit that I’ve got a special affection for afghanite, I have a curious fondness for both charoite and ilvaite and I am drawn towards radioactive minerals as well? The clay outcrops between Warden and Minster on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent in South-East England and the Mendip Hills of Somerset in South-West England are both relatively nearby and they are favourite fossil/mineral destinations for me.
