Cañadón BaumannBarreda V. D. (1993)ChenqueThe results obtained from continental palynomorphs are in agreement with the Oligocene - Miocene interpretation (Barreda, 1990). Based on currently known age ranges of the recovered pollen and spore species, and on the high degree of affinity of this assemblage with those of the Late Oligocene and mainly Miocene from New Zealand, Australia and Antarctica, the Chenque Formation was assigned to an age range of Late Oligocene? - Miocene (Barreda, 1990). The associated dinoflagellates suggest a simisandstone28.4 - 5.333 Ma
