Comments: | "The most well-known locality for large, well-formed calcite crystals occurs in the Beaverbrook District of Danbury, Connecticut." Januzzi (1959). Based on more specific references to other minerals, this statement refers to the Agstone Co. Quarry near the border with Brookfield. He also reports in 1959: "Collecting is not allowed but collection of minerals from this locality, including many fine calcite crystals may be seen at the office." Januzzi (1994) includes a photo of a a doubly-terminated, scalenohedral crystal dusted with tiny pyrites. |
