A former Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 22, T20N, R10E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.9 mile) E of Red Ant and about 3.3 km (2 miles) NNW of Downieville, on the divide between Sailor Ravine on the E and Coyote Ravine on the W, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. USGS MRDS database note: Location in this T&R could be questioned because no road to...... (however, there is a dead end mining class [unimproved/jeep] road just to the W, along the W½W½ of the section); second note: both MRDS files state that this locality is along Oregon Creek but neither file contains any other data to support this contention. Sufficiently prospected to indicate rich ore . Adjoins the Good Hope chromite claim.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
