A former lode Au mine located in sec. 28, T33N, R6W, MDM (coordinates estimated; sections projected), 2.6 km (8,500 feet) WNW of Iron Mountain (summit) (coordinates of record), along Mad Ox Gulch, a tributary of Whiskey Creek. Property consisted of 3 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in andesite. The ore body strikes N30-40E and dips 83W at a thickness of 0.36 meters. Ore control was a fault surface in the host rock which the vein followed. The vein is composed of fragmented greenstone, fine-grained quartz and green gouge. Both free gold and gold associated with sulfides occurs here. Local rocks include Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 1 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings including 3 adits.
