A Mn occurrence located in sec. 19, T9S, R3E, MDM, 2.4 km (1.5 miles; 7,900 feet) WNW of Morgan Hill center, on private land. Discovered in 1917. Owned by A.M. Kelley, California (1974). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is . Located 2 miles SW of Madrone on a low ridge at the head of a small flat-floored valley, tributary to the Santa Clara Valley, and 1,000 feet SW of the Morgan Hill prospect.
Country rock is radiolarian cherts with considerable intrusive greenstone and serpentine. The cherts, mostly thin-bedded, are stained by manganese oxide in places. A massive chert body of variegated colors is cut by many fissures filled with manganese oxide. The oxide also occurs as stains, impregnations and small pockets in massive chert. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 1 (Coast Ranges) and/or ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
