A former Au-Cu occurrence/mine located in the N½SE¼ sec. 11 & in the center of the border in W of sec. 12, T47N, R15E, MDM, 1.3 km (0.8 mile) SW of Yellow Mountain (coordinates of record) (on the N side of Discovery Hill, ¾ mile E of Little Lily Lake), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 151; USGS model code: 25d; Deposit model name: Epithermal vein, Sado; may alos be categorized as: 25A, Hot-spring Au-Ag deposit), hosted in rhyolite. The ore body is a vein that strikes N70W; N80W and dips 75S; 60-70S, at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The vein cuts rhyolite and the underlying andesite. High-grade ore is associated with heavy iron-stained gouge on the hanging wall. Some of the vein quartz shows copper silicate stain. The vein is 4 to 5 inches (10 to 12.25 cm) thick. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 17 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 182.88 meters and comprised of a crosscut adit, 150 feet to the vein, with a 250 foot E drift on the vein. Two ore shoots at 40 and 50 feet long were developed along with 2 winzes 35 and 75 feet deep. Development has been on the Mountain View and Sugar Pine claims.
