A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼ (probable) sec. 10, T4S, R17E, MDM, 4.2 km (2.6 miles) NE of Bear Valley, along the Merced River (adjoins the French Mine on the E), on Bureau of Land Management wilderness land (Merced River Wilderness Study Area). Operated during the period 1950 to 1952; intermittently worked by the owner (1957). Operated by Mrs. Nettie Hauck, et al. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Bowen & Gray, p. 279 shows the location in sec. 10, T4S, R16E, but Averill, Pl. 4, and the description of the location indicate the location is in R17E.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The vein is the E extension of the French vein. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a total length of 91.44 meters. A 5 by 7 crosscut adit more than 100 feet long conencts with a long drift and numerous stopes. A secondary crosscut adit is also several hundred feet long.
