A former lode Au-Pb mine located in the W½SW¼NE¼ sec. 15 (& in sec. 23 ?), T8S, R21E, MDM, 4.5 km (2.8 miles) SE of Coarsegold, along the North Fork Fine Gold Creek (3 miles N of Ward Mountain), on private (patented) land. Property consistsed of 6 claims. First worked by Mexicans in early days. Closed circa 1901. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes NE and dips 45E at a thickness of 1.83 meters. The vein averages 4 feet thick. The vein material is comprised of "schist" along with quartz and talc. There are 4 pay shoots which rake 45N. On the Waterloo group, there are 2 parallel veins 40 feet apart which strike NW and dip 30NE. Each vein is 3.5 feet thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 91.44 meters and comprised of shafts, adits and several levels plus some stoping. A ball mill was on site.
Production information: It was reported that $30,000 (period values) of Au was produced during the 6 months of milling. No other production record was found. About 60% of values in free Au, 40% in sulfides. Veins of the Waterloo group reported to carry $10 (period values) per ton of Au.
