A former B-borate-halite-gypsum occurrence/mine located in sec. 8, T30S, R38E, MDM, about 3.5 km (2.2 miles) SSW of Saltdale, on the dry lake. NOTE: There is a discrepancy between the narrative description and legal description of this location (per MRDS). Owned by the estate of A. D. Daly, Lancaster, California (1981). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. May be in the Red Mountain GEM resource area.
Mineralization is a lacustrine evaporite deposit hosted in lake sediments. Ulexite cotton balls 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5 cm) in diameter occur in the efflorescent crust of Koehn Lake. Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Related tectonic structures include the basin and range province.
