A former Au mine located in secs. 17 & 18, T10S, R34E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) W of Fish Springs, on the S slope of Fish Springs Hill (6 miles S of Big Pine), on Bureau of Land Management wilderness land (Crater Mountain Wilderness Study Area). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. This mine possibly incorporated into later development under different name(s). Mineralization is a vein deposit, with a vein 2 to 5 feet (0.61 to 1.3 meters) thick, hosted in granite and diorite. The ore body strikes E-W and dips 90, at a thickness of 1.52 meters. Local rocks include Quaternary volcanic flow rocks, unit 6 (Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 tunnels and several winzes. The main is 700 feet long and passed through 3 ore shoots, each 60 feet long. 2 winzes are 50 feet deep.
