A former Au mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 28, T3N, R13E, MDM, at Angels Camp. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenschist, diorite, and slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE at a thickness of 4.27 meters. There are 4 veins near surface within a 200 foot thick zone. The main vein is barren white quartz. The 2 main stringer veins, called East & West, are separated by a layer of soft schist and lie between hard schist outer walls. The E vein is 5 feet thick and the W vein is 14 feet thick. The W vein has a hard diorite footwall and heavy talcose slate hanging wall, with a dip of 65 feet (?). The E vein has a hard diorite hanging wall has a dip of 80E. The veins are parallel. Local rocks include Undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 213.36 meters. Workings reach to a depth of 700 feet. Stopes were mined from the 300 level to surface. At the 700 level drifts on the W vein are 150 feet, and on the E vein they are 75 feet.
Production data are found in: Logan (1935).
Ore mined in the last period of activity was mostly low-grade. Little was taken out below the 300 foot level.
