A former lode Au mine located in the S½ (estimated) sec. 34, T4N, R13E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) ESE of Esmeralda (site), on the divide between Indian Creek and San Domingo Creek, along the Ponderosa Way (road). Operated around 1896. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in slate and schist. The ore body strikes NW and dips SE at a thickness of 0.3 meter. The dike is decayed at the surface. Twelve inches of gouge occur under the dike. Like material with a seam of quartz, is usually next to the dike. Pockets of coarse gold occur in quartz and gouge. Local rocks include Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada Foothills).
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 21.34 meters. Developed by a shaft and several open cuts made along the dike. There is a 70 foot drift off the shaft.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
