A former lode Au mine located in sec. 14, T2N, R12E, MDM, about 6 miles ESE of Carmen City and 4.1 km (2.6 miles) W of Bear Mountain (coordinates of record) (approximately 4½ miles NE of Copperopolis). Production years 1920'S. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Amador Group (slate). The ore body strikes NE and dips E at a thickness of 0.91 meters. Quartz and diabase are vein material. The footwall is talcose and the hanging wall is slate. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 28.96 meters and comprised of a 95 foot shaft with levels at 30, 50 & 85 feet. Each level has approximately 30 feet of drifts to the NE. (the topo map reflects 3 shaft and 1 adit symbol plus a prospect hole clustered in a small area)
