A former surface and underground Au-Ag-Pb mine located near the head of Slate Creek Canyon, on the south slope of Mount Tritle at 7,000 feet of altitude. Owned by Maj. A.J. Pickrell; and, H.L. Williams & Associates. Last produced 1939. Claims extend into sections 3, 10 & 11.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with lenticular ore body(ies) and involves Yavapai Schist intruded by dikes of light colored rhyolite porphyry. The footwall is said to be followed by a dike of light-colored rhyolite porphyry 10 feet wide, in which few quartz grains are visible. The strike of the vein is N.10ºW. and the dip is 80ºE. It is 2 to 17 feet wide with 3 oreshoots with backs about 700 feet above the lowest tunnel level. Ore is mainly quartzose. Ore control was faulting and shearing. Ore concentration was oxidation and enrichment at near surface. Minor alteration was noted.
Area structures include foliation in Proterozoic rocks that trends N20E to N30E. Veins parallel foliation or diverge at angles less than 20 degrees.
Workings include a few thousand feet of tunnels, winzes & raises. The lowest tunnel is first a crosscut SE to the vein for 640 feet, and then continues on the vein for 1,000 feet.
