Hyaline and chloritized quartz crystals have been found 50-100 m above Lago della Manica, along the path leading to Colletto della Cristalliera (aka Colle Superiore di Malanotte). The nearby Punta Cristalliera (2801 m) is presumed to have been named for this quartz occurrence.
