A former surface and underground tungsten claim/mine located in the Cottonwood region, West of the Cottonwood Cliffs. Owned by W.H. Hunt, R.E. Ames & J. Daley.
A medium-grained gray granite includes a NE-ward trending band of black schist some 150 feet wide. This band is invaded along both walls and in the middle by irregular, narrow masses of pegmatite. SW from the workings the schist band widens and the pegmatite splitting it attains a width of several hundred feet. Both the SE and NW contacts of the schist with the pegmatite contain glassy gray quartz veins from less than 1 inch to 18 inches wide, that strike NE and dip steeply NW. These are traceable on the surface intermittently for several hundred feet. In places, apparently where intersected by quartz stringers of Westward strike, these veins carry scattered small masses of wolframite and some scheelite. Wall rocks show strong alteration to sericite and, in places, to biotite.
Workings include an old shaft at 28 feet deep and an open cut at 10 feet deep. Production has been a few tons of cobbed ore.
