Ophir Tungsten area; Ophir claim
A W occurrence/prospects area located in the NE¼ sec. 25, T19N, R17W, G&SRM, 12 miles SE of Kingman, in the NW portion of the Wabayuma Peak Wilderness Area, on Bureau of Land Management administered wilderness land. Additional workings are located in secs. 24 & 30. Owned by W. K. Lentz, Arizona. The USGS MRDS database accuracy for this locality is not stated.
Mineralization is scheelite-bearing quartz veins hosted in Neoproterozoic gneiss. The ore body strikes N43E and dips 60NW at a width of 0.1 meters. The ore is in sparse and small veins a few inches wide and a few feet long. Local rocks include Early Proterozoic granitic rocks.
Local geologic features include foliation of the host rock that is the same as the vein strike and dip.
Workings include surface openings with an overall depth of 3.66 meters (10 feet) and comprised of a few shallow prospect pits and open cuts.
