A small former surface and underground W mine located in secs. 29, 31 and in the SE ¼ sec. 30, T.17S., R.7E. (protracted), about ¾ mile S of San Juan Spring. Discovered in 1954 by George W. Sparks.
Mineralization is a lens-shaped ore body with spotty scheelite along a fracture zone in Cretaceous sediments metamorphosed to quartzite and hornfels. The ore body strikes S20W and dips 70SE.
Workings include open cuts, one main adit, and a shaft(s). Some 100 tons of 0.5% WO3 were mined in the mid-1950's.
