A former surface and underground W-Zn-Fe occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 24, T6N, R15W, G&SRM, on land of unknown status. Owned and operated at times, or in part, by McVay Mining Co. (1955); and, Huthmacher & Dilts (1958). The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 100 meters.
Mineralization is sparse, sporadic scheelite grains, pods and crystals in narrow quartz veinlets in Laramide granitic intrusives underlying Precambrian schist and Paleozoic marble. Some iron oxide, willemite, sphalerite and traces of other minerals noted. Good tungsten placer material. Local rocks include Paleozoic sedimentary rocks.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of shallow shafts, adits, tunnels and open cuts.
Production in the mid- and late-1950's was about 3,237 pounds of tungsten concentrates averaging about 71% WO3.
