A gold placer area located in secs. 4 & 5, 20 & 21, T5N, R14W and secs. 32 & 33, T6N, R14W (protracted), 5 miles N of Vicksburg, on BLM-administered land. Location is approximate. Owned and operated by mostly small individual operators.
Mineralization is gold-bearing gravels in many small gulches, derived from numerous small gold-quartz lenses in the Mesozoic schist.
Workings are mostly placers worked prior to 1900 and intermittently since then. A rough estimate of total production would be some 300 oz. of gold with some alloyed silver.
